    The Menaul School Qingdao curricula consists of three modules:
    Core courses, R&D and ESL.
    All courses at MSQ follow a full-English, small-size class teaching model. Students who successfully complete the prescribed high school credits will receive a US high school diploma from Menaul School. This diploma is recognized by the New Mexico State Department of Education as well as colleges and universities around the world.

    High school core curriculum

    MSQ employs textbooks and assessment criteria designated by ISAS. We also provide core courses found in the best American secondary schools including English literature, mathematics, natural and hard sciences, social studies, arts, and PE. During the 2018-2019 school year, Menaul School Qingdao (MSQ) will offer 42 core courses , of which 17 are Advanced Placement (AP)courses. These AP courses include almost every AP subject required for various majors in American universities. Concurrently, MSQ offers students a wide selection of core courses at varying levels of academic difficulty so as to intellectually challenge them and to provide a firm academic base of knowledge and vocabulary. This will lead to the development and mastery of the essential content and skills learners will need to succeed at MSQ and in college.

    • Introduction

       Milestone project is introductory level. We aim for the students to learn the basics of research methods, procedures, and how to search for relevant resources. The assessment will be a group presentation of their progress report;

       The Capstone project is of a more advanced level of research. We aim for the students to be able to design research methods, conduct independent data collection and analysis, and accomplish 1,000 words academic essay as the summary of the program.

     

    •Proposal of Problem

       Research advisory board posts 30 research topic beginning of each school year for students to select;

       Students may propose their problems to study, as long as the POP receive advisory board’s approval;

       Milestone projects are available to 9&10th graders; Only 11&12th graders can choose Capstone project.

     

    • Team Building

       Students form their groups; student leaders must receive approval from the advisory board;

       In case one or more students wish to leave the team and join another team, both sides need to agree to
    the change. Team leaders need to report the changes to the Advisory board;

       Team leaders are the ultimate persons responsible for the progress and final report, therefore he/she cannot quit from the team unless another team member is willing to take the position.

    • Assessment

       The advisory board and subject advisors will form the judging panel. Summative reports from teams and grade their performance will be judged and graded by the Judging panel;

       Students who missed their scheduled presentations will be given a second chance;

       Students who receive excellent grades will have the opportunity to be awarded Menaul Scholars.

    · ESL courses ·

    The primary focus of this module is on improving students' academic English language proficiency . By establishing a solid foundation of academic English, students will have opportunities for greater success on international standardized tests such as the TOEFL, SAT, and so on. Achieving a passing grade on these kinds of tests is a basic admission requirements for studying in Europe and in the United States.
